该方法的原理是将织物的干燥试样支撑在垂直板上，以指定的方式点燃其顶部附近的凸起表面，并将织物表面上的火焰向下传播计时至参考线。适用于纤维表面凸起的织物，即绒面、绒面、簇绒、植绒或类似表面。

The principle of the method is supporting a dry specimen of the fabric on a vertical plate, igniting its raised surface near the top in a specified manner, timing the spread of flame downwards on the surface of the fabric to a reference line. Applies to fabrics having a raised fibre surface, i.e. a napped, pile, tufted, flocked or similar surface.
