ISO/IEC 23004-6:20 08规定了MPEG多媒体中间件（M3W）中用于故障管理的支持应用编程接口（API）的接口和实现技术。故障管理是M3W平台的可选框架。目标是在故障情况下拥有一个可靠的系统。这些故障可能是由于设备供应商无法控制的升级和扩展而引入的。故障也可能存在，因为在我们现在构建的复杂软件系统中，不可能测试所有的跟踪和配置。ISO/IEC 23004-6:20 08规定了一种通过使用中间人（包装器）来添加容错机制的方法、这些中间人（包装器）的透明实例化的方法、用于协调中间人（包装器）之间的故障处理的接口。

ISO/IEC 23004-6:2008 specifies the interfaces of the support application programming interface (API) and the realization technology used for Fault Management in MPEG Multimedia Middleware (M3W). Fault Management is an optional framework for M3W Platforms. The goal is to have a dependable/reliable system in the context of faults. These faults can be introduced due to upgrades and extensions out of control of the device vendor. The faults can also exist because it is impossible to test all traces and configurations in the complex software systems we are building nowadays.

ISO/IEC 23004-6:2008 specifies

• an approach of adding fault tolerance mechanism through the use of a Middleman (wrapper),


• an approach for transparent instantation of these Middlemans (wrappers),


• interfaces for coordination of fault handling between Middlemans (wrappers).
