油应为清澈的流动液体，在低温下可能会变得浑浊或结晶。颜色应为黄色至棕黄色，气味特征为黄樟素。20/20°C时的相对密度必须介于1082和1094之间，20°C时的折射率必须介于15330和15370之间。旋光度应在-0,50至+3,0之间。在20°C条件下，与90%（V/V）乙醇的混溶性应为1体积/2体积，以得到澄清的溶液。冰点应介于7.5°C和9.5°C之间。必须根据相应的ISO标准进行规定特性的取样和测试。

The oil shall be a clear mobile liquid which may become cloudy or crystalline at low temperatures. The colour shall be yellow to brownish-yellow, the odour characteristic, recalling safrole. The relative density at 20/20 °C has to ly between 1,082 and 1,094 and the refractive index at 20 °C between 1,5330 and 1,5370. The optical rotation shall range from - 0,50 to + 3,0. The miscibility with 90 % (V/V) ethanol at 20 °C shall be 1 volume in 2 volumes to give a clear solution. The freezing point shall ly between 7,5 °C and 9,5 °C. Sampling and testing of the characteristics specified have to be carried out according to the corresponding ISO-Standards.
