指定某些主要尺寸和设计原则。为了充分利用这一标准，港务局需要对所需的坡道等级进行彻底调查，以适应预期的船舶类型。虽然该标准没有考虑到专用渡轮服务中使用的RO／RO终端，但在建造这些终端时，建议港务当局考虑这一标准，以避免在以后再向其他船舶打开码头时进行昂贵的更改。

Specifies certain major dimensions and principles of design. To make full use of this Standard, a Port Authority needs to make a thorough investigation as to the class of ramp required to suit the types of ship expected. Although this Standard does not take into account Ro/Ro terminals used in specialized ferry services, Port Authorities are advised to consider this Standard when building such terminals, to avoid expensive alterations later, if the terminal is then opened to other ships.
