ISO 14229-2:2013规定了会话层服务的数据链路独立要求。ISO 14229-2:2013规定了通用会话层服务，以提供统一诊断服务（ISO 14229-1）与所有传输协议和网络层服务（例如ISO 15765-2 DoCAN、FlexRay上的ISO 10681-2通信、ISO 13400 DoIP、ISO 14230-2 DoK Line等）之间的独立性ISO 14229-2:2013规定了OSI第4层（传输）和第5层（会话）之间通过所谓的服务请求/确认/指示原语的公共服务原语接口。该接口允许使用任何名为“DoXYZ/CoXYZ”的通信协议（如ISO 15765 DoCAN）无缝实施ISO 14229-1统一诊断服务（UDS）-控制器局域网上的诊断通信，ISO 13400 DoIP，FlexRay上的ISO 10681通信，ISO 14230 DoK线路。ISO 15031（排放相关OBD）和ISO 27145（WWH-OBD）支持标准化服务原语接口。
